Spentt is a free personal expense tracker that helps you build the habit of logging what you spend — in 5 seconds per expense — and reviewing it every Sunday with a weekly receipt. Unlike most finance apps, Spentt stores all your data in your own Google Drive, not on our servers. There's no bank linking, no subscription fee, and no ads.

Spentt is completely free — no premium tier, no subscription, no credit card required. All features are free forever: unlimited expense logging, weekly receipts, spending personality, insights, history, CSV export, and multi-currency support. There are no ads either. We're building a sustainable business through a future Pro plan for power users, but the core product will always be free.

Three things make Spentt genuinely different:

1. Your data in your Google Drive. Most apps store your financial data on their servers. Spentt stores it in your own Google Drive — so you own it completely, and it's protected by Google's security, not ours.

2. No bank linking ever. You never share banking credentials with Spentt. Every expense is logged manually in 5 seconds — which also creates spending awareness that automatic imports don't.

3. The weekly receipt with a personality. Instead of just pie charts, Spentt gives you a receipt-style weekly summary with a spending personality verdict — "Comfortable Contradictionist: coffee costs more than groceries." It's honest, memorable, and actually changes how you spend.

Yes — Spentt addresses the core problems that made Mint controversial: your data lived on Intuit's servers, bank linking required sharing credentials with a third party, and the app used your spending data for targeted ads.

Spentt stores data in your Google Drive (not our servers), never requires bank linking, and has no advertising. The trade-off is manual logging instead of automatic import — but research consistently shows manual loggers spend 15-20% less, because logging creates conscious engagement that automatic imports bypass.

Your expenses are stored in a file called spentt-expenses.json inside your Google Drive's appDataFolder — a private, hidden folder that only Spentt can access. This file lives entirely within your Google account. Spentt's servers are never involved in storing, reading, or processing your expense data. Even Spentt's team cannot see your expenses.

Nothing happens to your data — it stays in your Google Drive. The only thing you'd lose is the app interface. Your expense file remains in your Drive, accessible and downloadable forever. This is the core reason we built Spentt this way: your financial history should never be hostage to a company's business decisions.

No — and we structurally can't. Because your expense data never touches Spentt's servers, there's nothing to sell. We don't have access to your spending data. The only data we store is basic account information (email, name) for user tracking purposes, and we never sell that either.

Yes — completely. Go to Google Drive → Settings → Manage Apps → find Spentt → Delete hidden app data. This permanently removes the spentt-expenses.json file from your Drive. You can also simply delete expenses within the app itself. Logging out of Spentt clears the local cache from your device.

iPhone (Safari): Open spentt.live → tap the Share button (box with arrow) → tap Add to Home Screen → tap Add.

Android (Chrome): Open spentt.live → tap the three-dot menu → tap Add to Home Screen or Install App → tap Install.

Spentt installs as a full-screen app with its own icon — no App Store required. It works like a native app.

Spentt requests access to the appDataFolder scope of your Google Drive — which is a restricted, hidden folder that only Spentt can see. We don't request access to your regular Drive files, documents, or photos. The appDataFolder is specifically designed for apps to store their own data privately in your Drive, without showing up in your regular Drive view.

Yes — open spentt.live in any browser on your desktop. In Chrome, you can also install it as a desktop app via the install icon in the address bar. The desktop layout is optimised for wider screens with a centred app shell.

Every Sunday, Spentt generates a receipt-style summary of your week's spending — broken down by category with a total, and a spending personality verdict at the bottom. It's designed to give you a quick, honest look at where your money went each week, in a format that's easy to read and remember. You can also view your previous week's receipt at any time from the Receipt tab.

Based on your weekly spending pattern, Spentt assigns one of 28 personalities — from The Wealth Architect (40%+ to savings/investments) to The Comfortable Contradictionist (coffee costs more than groceries) to The Delivery Devotee (food delivery dominates). Each personality comes with a short, honest description. The first one that matches your pattern wins. You can share your personality from the home screen.

Spentt supports 10 currencies: Indian Rupee (₹), US Dollar ($), Euro (€), British Pound (£), Japanese Yen (¥), Australian Dollar (A$), Canadian Dollar (C$), Swiss Franc (Fr), UAE Dirham (د.إ), and Singapore Dollar (S$). Change your currency in Settings — it applies across all screens and the weekly receipt.

Yes — go to Settings → Export CSV. This downloads all your expenses as a CSV file that opens in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet app. Since your data is also stored as a JSON file in your Google Drive, you can access that directly too.

Spentt has 30 built-in categories including Food & Dining, Groceries, Coffee, Transport, Shopping, Entertainment, Medical, Utilities, Rent, Subscriptions, Investment, Salary, House Help, and more. Categories are selected when logging an expense — you can scroll through all 30 or tap to select quickly.

Spentt caches your most recent expense data locally so you can view your history offline. Logging a new expense or syncing your data requires an internet connection to save to Google Drive. The app will prompt you to reconnect if your session expires.

No — your expenses are safely stored in Google Drive. A session expiry just means Spentt needs to reconnect to Google to sync. You'll see a "Session expired — reconnect" prompt. Tap it to sign in again and your data will reload from Drive. Spentt also blocks adding new expenses when the session is expired to prevent data loss.

Sign in with the same Google account you used originally. Spentt will load your expenses from your Google Drive automatically — they're stored in your account, not on a specific device. If your expenses don't appear, make sure you're using the same Google account.

Try these steps in order: 1) Hard refresh the page (Ctrl+Shift+R on desktop, pull down to refresh on mobile). 2) Clear browser cache and reload. 3) Log out and log back in. 4) Check your internet connection.
